The Vaccine Research Center is directed by its founder, Professor Timo Vesikari, who is a specialist in pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases. He has worked as both a professor of pediatrics and professor of virology at the University of Tampere in Finland.
Professor Vesikari is an eminent and world-renowned expert on vaccines and a well-liked and appreciated speaker at international meetings.
Vesikari’s area of research include pediatric infectious diseases and virology, especially vaccines against viral infections. His international research has made a significant contribution to the introduction of rotavirus vaccines. All over the world, the vaccine against rotavirus prevents hospitalisations and deaths caused by diarrhea. Professor Vesikari has been active in the World Health Organization (WHO) and served on and chaired several of its steering committees.
At the Tampere University Hospital in Finland, Professor Vesikari was a highly esteemed chief physician in pediatric infectious diseases.
